Elbow pain is quite common especially as we get older and tendons can become a little worn. There are a variety of common Elbow conditions seen and treated by Physiotherapists. The most common are tennis and golfer’s elbow. Tennis elbow is pain on the outside of the elbow and can radiate down the forearm. The is most commonly a tendon injury and often occurs due to overuse with gripping, extension of the wrist and poor upper limb bio-mechanics. It is not necessarily related to the activity of tennis. Golfer’s Elbow is pain most commonly felt on the inside of the elbow and may be due to excessive flexion of the wrist and poor bio-mechanics. An assessment by an experienced physiotherapist is essential to find the cause of the condition and how best to treat these injuries. They can be complex and take some time to heal due to the difficulty in resting this area.
